An Eyeful: Petitfée Black Pearl & Gold Hydrogel Eye-Spot Patch

Black Pearl & Gold Hydrogel Eye-Spot Patch with packaging and spatula. Photos by Jackie Sakura.

When to use

After a night out or a night of little sleep to calm the delicate under-eye area and reduce shadows or bags. Note: the jar comes with a tiny spatula that you use to lift the gel pieces!

How to enjoy

Follow toner with an eye-shaped piece under each eye, and place a spot piece on dry/problem areas, to target skin with luxurious ingredients, including pearl and gold extracts. Lift gel pieces using the spatula to maximize a hygienic application and leave on for 20-30 minutes before disposing. Gel pieces are not designed to be re-used but gel can be left on the skin as an extra nourishing layer for your existing skin care routine.

My appreciation

The first and only review I read on Petitfée’s Black Pearl & Gold Hydrogel Eye Patch (a cousin of the Petitfée Black Pearl & Gold Hydrogel Eye Patch) is by Shini Lola, who makes a wonderful presentation of the product’s feel and fragrance.

Even though I do not typically possess under-eye shadows, the area around my eyes can be very sensitive, as it is for most, and I love the feeling of eye masks (especially those with cooling properties) and the firmness that follows. The texture of each beautiful gold-flecked gel piece is smooth and cool, with a lush rose scent. Both sides are coated with the pearl hydrogel and develop a slight adhesion to the skin after several minutes of wear – great for keeping them in place while reading or other vertical activities. The resulting elasticity and brightness lasted into the next day. My only cautionary measure is with placement: to avoid getting the gel piece too close to, or in, your actual eye, carefully adjust the piece with clean hands while gazing upward.

Set comes with 60 eye gels and 30 spot gels, immersed in luscious rose-scented essence.

With 60 eye patched and 30 spot patches, this product can be extended across several weeks. I am looking forward to wearing these after days that usually begin early and end late.

Rose water, gold, Irish moss, with pearl, grapefruit seed, camellia, yuzu, bamboo, cucumber and longleaf pine extracts. Made in Korea.
